About El Medio Firewise

A neighborhood-led effort focused on practical wildfire risk reduction, resilient rebuilding, education, and community connection.

What is Firewise USA®?

Firewise USA® is a national program that helps communities reduce wildfire risk by encouraging neighbors to work together on practical steps such as vegetation management, home hardening, and creating defensible space. The program provides a framework for communities to become better prepared and more resilient to wildfire.

What this means for El Medio

El Medio Firewise is a neighborhood resource: a place to share practical guidance, community priorities, local events, and information residents can use as they prepare existing properties or rebuild.

Our action plan

El Medio Bluffs' three-year action plan runs from August 15, 2026 through August 14, 2029. Its focus areas include education and outreach, home hardening, defensible space and fuel reduction, and evacuation and wildfire preparedness.
